2017 Shark Week Thelema

You’ll Never Believe This Madman That Murders Children!

Occasionally, I will hear people talking about how Aleister Crowley advocated sacrificing children, making bloody sacrifices, or killing things.

A quicky rundown:

Bloody sacrifice: Usually period blood.

Killing children: Semen.

“Kill me” or getting killed: Having an orgasm.

Many of Aleister Crowley’s writing are cryptic in nature. This is why it’s called “occult” since the word literally means “hidden.”

Most of the answers are hidden in plain sight, so you just gotta keep reading until you figure it out. There are blinds and tricks meant to deceive people who might not have the background or cleverness to pick up on what he’s talking about.

I’ve met a number of people who don’t like Crowley because they can’t understand what he’s talking about. Half the fun is trying to figure out what he’s talking about. I feel like someone doesn’t really learn something unless they figure it out on their own. People need that “eureka” moment for the behaviour to really stick.

Why do you think there are so many Thelema memes about reading too much? It’s a puzzle, and some people are really into that. It’s not for everyone, but there are texts where he explains some of this stuff in basic language. There are also a number of modern writers that do a great job of putting Crowley into easy terms like Lon Milo Duquette or IAO131
